... Controlled Entry ...

In many office and commercial environments, Controlled Entry is required to restrict the movement of staff and visitors into and throughout a building. At connect a.d., we offer a range of Controlled Entry products that can be easlily incorporated into our Manual and Automatic Entrance Doors to meet different levels of security.

The following Controlled Entry products are used in conjunction with various locking options such as electric stikes and magnetic locks. See Locking Options for more details.

  • Digital Keypad activation
  • Swipe Card activation
  • Proximity activation
  • Audio Intercom
  • Video Intercom
  • Exit

...digital keypad activation...
Entry is gained to the premises by the user typing a given code into a Digital Keypad located near the entrance. There is the option to have different codes for different users in order to determine who is in the building at any one time.

...swipe card activation...
Entry is gained to the building by swiping a card (credit card size) through a card reader. This restricts access to only those people who have a valid entry card.

...proximity activation...
Using Proximity activation, the user passes a key fob activation token over the proximity reader in order to gain access to the building. The reader can be located on or near the door. If vandalism is an issue, the reader can be hidden behind a wall or panel.

...audio intercom...

An Audio Intercom allows a visitor to speak to a staff member in order to gain access. When the button on the intercom is pressed, a handset located inside the building sounds. To allow access for the visitor, a release button on the handset is pressed and the door unlocks.

The handset can be located at a reception desk adjacent to the door, or remotely anywhere in the building. The Audio Intercoms come in a range of styles and even vandal proof.

...video intercom...
The Video Intercom works on the same principal as the Audio Intercom but has the added advantage of a visual image of the visitor. The camera within the intercom panel transmits the image to a monitor located on or near the telephone handset. This feature is benefitical for higher security applications and where the visitor is not in direct view of the staff member.

...exit...
As part of the Controlled Entry system, free exit is often required. It is provided simply by a thumbturn on the lock, by a Press Button Release to disengage an electric strike or magnetic lock, or by an overhead sensor or other ’activation’ method.
