... Safety ...

At connect a.d. we take pride in ensuring that the doors we provide meet the most stringent safety standards and also any relevant British Standards. There are different safety provisions which can be taken for both Manual and Automatic Entrance Doors. Customers are advised to consult their local fire department to establish which optional safety features are required.

Manual Entrance Doors
connect a.d. Manual Entrance Doors are manufactured and installed with safety in mind. The door closures are set at an appropriate closing speed and force to ensure correct operation. Finger trap protection can be provided as an optional extra (see below).

Automatic Entrance Doors
Due to the motorised nature of Automatic Entrance Doors it is necessary to install standard safety features to comply with British Standard BS 7036 and protect door users.

Safety devices for connect a.d. Automatic Entrance Doors include:

  • Safety Beams
  • Automatic Reverse on Obstruction
  • Pocket Screens
  • Presence Sensors
  • Finger Trap Protection
  • Breakout
  • Barrier
  • Battery Back-Up

...safety beams...
As standard, connect a.d. Straight and Telescopic Sliding Automatic Entrance Doors have double safety beams incorporated into the door frame. If the beams are broken, the door will remain open or return open a closing door.

...automatic reverse on obstruction...
As standard, connect a.d. Straight and Telescopic Sliding Automatic Entrance Doors have an inbuilt passive safety device to reverse open the door if it strikes an obstruction in its closing cycle.

...pocket screen...
As an optional extra, the connect a.d. Straight Sliding Automatic Entrance Door can incorporate a Pocket Screen to contain the area into which the doorleaf travels during the opening cycle. This is necessary to eliminate the risk of a person being trapped between the door and the adjacent wall or being hit by the door as it opens. A Pocket Screen is held in place by flushbolts and can be hinged out for cleaning.

...presence sensor...
As standard, the connect a.d. Hinging Automatic Entrance Door has a Presence Sensor mounted on both sides of a door leaf to stop the door from striking an obstruction during its opening or closing cycle. As an optional extra, the connect a.d. Straight Sliding Automatic Entrance Door can incorporate a presence sensor to monitor the area into which the doorleaf travels during the opening cycle. These sensors can also monitor the threshold of the doorway and are especially useful when a significant proportion of traffic are children, elderly, or disabled.

...fingertrap protection...
For connect a.d. Manual and Hinging Automatic Entrance Doors, fingertrap protection can be provided as an optional extra. It is a protective strip fixed over the hinging side of the door, both inside and out, to stop fingers becoming caught between the door leaf and frame.

...breakout...
Breakout can be included in all connect a.d. Automatic Entrance Doors. Breakout allows a user to manually push the doors forcing them to hinge open in an emergency. This can be incorporated into sidescreens as well as the doors.

...barrier...
For connect a.d. Hinging Automatic Entrance Doors, it may be necessary to provide barriers at the fully open door position to help prevent users from standing or walking in the area of the door opening cycle. The barriers can also be used to control the flow of people through an opening.

...battery back-up...
Battery Backup can be provided to all connect a.d. Automatic Entrance Doors. This will ensure that, in the event of power failure within the building, the doors will still be able to power open.
