In order to improve the thermal efficiency of buildings, changes to the building regulations have been made. Within Scotland these changes have been covered under Building Regulations Part J: Conservation of Fuel and Power.
Within Scotland, it is only New-Build projects which are required to meet the new regulations, as Part J does not apply to existing buildings.
To comply with Part J, buildings have to achieve certain U values. These U values indicate the specified insulation levels which buildings have to achieve.
The energy performance of doors and windows is dependent on the thermal efficiency of the frame and the glazing. Within new buildings trade-offs can be made between the U values of doors and windows against better performing insulating materials elsewhere in the building.
connect a.d. can provide doors which meet the new building regulations if required. Our sales team will be happy to help with any enquiries you may have.
